| Owlz Go 3-3 Making Final 8 In Cincy Flames Tournament |
June 28 Cincinnati, OH - Forced to play with only nine players in the Cincy Flames Tournament this past week the Owlz rose to the challenge going 3-3 and making the final 8 teams on Sunday. With a second round loss to the Kentucky Baseball Club the Owlz were tired and beat up from the best competition seen all year. Owlz Hats go off to Mark Dugan and his Cincy Flames for putting on the best tournament attended to date by coach Halas and his Owlz team. The talented teams faced this week was exactly what the boys needed to continue moving towards the next level and we look forward to returning next year!

| June 28 Cincinnati, OH - With the victory over the Cyclones Saturday night the Owlz were set to face the boys from Kentucky. Sharing the same hotel this past week the Owlz knew they were a team to beat bringing 15 players to the battle in Cincy. Hot from the night before Tyler Halas stepped to the plate and roped a first pitch line drive over the third base man's head to start another attack and with help from the entire OWLZ team the Owlz jumped to a quick two run lead. You would hope that a fast start would put the other team on their heals but just the opposite. The strong Kentucky team got on their toes and scored five of their own regaining the lead which they would go on to keep for the entire game.
Facing elimination with a loss and Owlz pitchers at their maximum inning limits should we win, the Owlz were determined to not quit, battle back hoping to figure out their pitching issues later. In the event we loose, make Kentucky spend some of their best pitchers to beat us and that's exactly what they had to do. Insulted that Kentucky felt they could get by the Owlz without their best pitchers just fired up the Owlz who continued to apply pressure each inning and forcing the Kentucky team to play a complete 7 inning game using their best two pitchers to close the game for Kentucky.

Lids Indiana Bulls 13 14 0
| June 27 Cincinnati, OH - The Owlz were run over and gored from inning one in game four of the summer classic on Saturday afternoon. The Lids Indiana Bulls were to much to handle and pitcher Ben Chally pitched a good game throwing strikes however Bulls bats used the entire field to punish the Owlz hitting everything thrown at them. With the game out of reach quickly the Owlz pulled Chally saving him for the championship rounds and settling for a 2-2 pool play record. With the top 12 teams advancing and all teams being top quality in each pool the Owlz regrouped after the loss and planned an attack on Saturday night should they make the top 12. With a 2-2 record in pool play Owlz knew they had a shot at the top 12 and it would come down to runs allowed, which held true giving the Owlz the 11th seed and getting in to championship play. Up next the Owlz face the 6th seed Strike Zone Cyclones from Indiana at 6:00pm.

| Owlz Attack The Franklin Heat Handing Them Their 2nd Loss Of The Season! |
| June 26 Cincinnati, OH - In Game 3 despite the morning loss to the Irish and 96 degree heat at game time, the Owlz bounced back from the disappointing morning loss and handed the Franklin Heat their second loss of the season. Owlz Bats came out from the first pitch hitting the Heat's pitching hard and forcing the Heat to spend some valuable pitching in a tournament that forced us to have a lot of arms to finish the tournament. Another strong 4 inning pitching performance from Alex Wills kept the Owlz in the lead all game and good stuff from Ben Chally closed the game to seal the win for Wills. The Owlz finished Friday 1-1 giving them a 2-1 record in pool play with one more game to play. On tap for Saturday a crossover pool play game with the Lids Indiana Bulls.

A big and good hitting team the Irish answered the Owlz attack each inning keeping the Owlz on their heals and never allowing them to get off the ground and fly. Owlz pitcher Tyler Halas brought his good stuff to start the game but bloop hits, untimely errors and a ball hit up the middle striking Tyler Halas in the hip forced the Owlz to pull Tyler and save him for action later in the tournament.

| Owlz Kill Orioles In Game 1 Of Cincy Flames Summer Classic |
| June 25 Cincinnati, OH - Couldnt be a better start to the Cincy Flames Summer Classic as the Owlz attacked the Ohio Orioles with a 11-1 Victory in game one. Alex Wills got the Start and win pitching three great innings and Tyler Halas came in to finish off the Orioles in a five inning game on slaughter rule. Owlz bats came out clawing from inning one and never let up through the five inning game which proved to keep the Orioles grounded. With strong defense and the game ending double play by Antonio Solis at second the Owlz are flying high, up next the Indiana Irish.

| Bakersfield Bulldogs Beat Owlz In Game 2 Of Playoffs |
| June 13 Omaha, NE - In a game controlled by the Home plate Umpire from the first inning the Illinois Diamond Owlz lost to the Bakersfield Bulldogs 17-13 in game two of the Championship round. With a number of painted corners by pitchers on both sides called as balls, the strike zone seemed to be the size of a Quarter forcing both teams to place the ball where it would be hit hard and that made for a long four inning game that turned into a slugfest! Without a two hour time limit the score could have been much higher and the outcome different as Owlz bats were evenly matched with the Bakersfield Bulldogs in our rematch.
Owlz hats go off to the 2009 Slump Buster Champions for their tournament win and the two outstanding games played against the talented group of players and coaches. With Bakersfield as the number 8 seed and Illinois Diamond Owlz the 9th seed, it hurt to have to face the boy's from California so soon in the playoff rounds but what can you do. Owlz players can hold their heads high as they played a great four days of baseball loosing only one game in the tournament to the Champions and going 3-1-1. Owlz players are red hot and excited to resume play this week with games Tuesday-Thursday and the Batavia Fathers Day tournament starting this Friday.

| Rain Forces Tie With Bakersfield Bulldogs! |
June 12 Omaha, NE - In a rain shortend game the Diamond Owlz faced a Bulldog Pitching staff with a bite. Arguably the best pitching staff Owlz batters have seen this season. With Bakersfield attacking early and jumping out to a 2-0 lead the Owlz claws came out again taking a 5-2 lead in the bottom of the 3rd. A hard line drive by Jason Mars and a bases clearing double by Tyler Halas Helped the Owlz establish the lead. In the bottom of the fourth inning Brian Summers took an outside pitch for a double down the right field line to extend the lead 8-3.
From inning one Owlz knew the Bulldogs came to play and the leash came off in the 5th with Bulldogs hitting and running wild. With a few timely hits and a steady heavy rain the Bulldogs tied the game at 8-8 taking the game into the 6th. With one out Tyler Hartsock drew a walk in the rainy conditions to give the Owlz a fighting chance. Hartsock stoled second and reached third with two outs and with rain falling hard Owlz knew a past ball was possible. With ball three past the catcher that opportunity came and Hartsock was off to the races and so was the Bulldogs Catcher with a leaping head first tag to just catch Tyler Hartsock short of the possible winning run in the rain shortened game.
Owlz hats go off the the Bakersfield Bulldogs team and coaches for a great game! It was a true pleasure to play a quality team with a great group of players, coaches and fans! Best of luck in the Slump Buster Finals hope we meet in the Championships! Visit the Bulldogs at www.thebakersfieldbulldogs.com

| There is no doubt how much the boys and coaches look forward to one of our favorite tournaments each season. This will be our third year at the Illini Blast tournament in Champaign. We see it as the true beginning of the season. Two years ago, we carried home the 2007 first place trophy in the 11U division. Last year saw us relinquish first place and a chance at a repeat. However, the boys have worked hard during the off season and are excited to try and recapture the championship in the 13U competition.
Our personal thanks and hats off to Don and First Pitch Baseball for their efforts in sponsoring a truly first class tournament year after year. The fields are always in excellent condition, and the competition is second to none, with several of the state's top travel baseball organizations in attendance. Good luck to all of the teams!!!
