| 2007 got off to a smashing success with a first place finish in the Champaign hosted Illini Blast Tournament. The bats were hot throughout the 5 games with the team averaging over 8 runs per game. The pitching, likewise, was in top form. Two shut-outs were hurled, with less than a 3 runs per game average allowed. We were fortunate to have played some of our very best baseball. The competition was superlative throughout the entire 11U roster of teams, and I am sure they are looking forward to a rematch.
Our hats off to the tournament sponsors and directors for an excellent job. The boys had a great, memorable time, and we are already looking forward to next year.

The Illinois Lightning made it two straight 1st place finishes in winning the USSSA May Bash at the Lumber Yard complex in Bourbanaisse, IL. The team played extremely well with four consecutive, decisive victories, not allowing any game to go the distance. Quality pitching held the opposition to just 8 runs, and the bats came alive to produce 43 runs for the week-end.
Now it is on to Plainfield and the always intense Joey Kledzik Memorial Tournament. Having never won this tournament, the boys are extremely excited and optimistic about this opportunity. GO LIGHTNING!!

| It just wasn't our week-end. Although the boys came to play, they found themselves on the wrong side of two one-run games. But then that's baseball. We would like to congratulate the Regional Redbirds for their 1st place finish, as well as St Joe's and Highwood for their 2nd and 4th place finishes, respectively. There is no substitute for sound fundamental play, and all of these teams brought their "A" game with solid fundamentals. The team can hardly wait until next year. They love this tournament and all that it exemplifies. Now it's on to Aurora, where we hope to get back to our winning ways.

The boys reverted back to their winning ways with a convincing championship in the North Aurora Baseball Tournament this past week-end. Rain and threatening skies compressed the tournament to six games in two days. The entire team responded with, arguably, their finest streak of sound fundamental baseball this year. They outscored their opponents 58 to 13, and, at one point, registered 23 consecutive scoreless innings on defense. The depth of the team also showed when a different pitcher was used in each of the seven innings of the championship game. Our congratulations to North Aurora and their handling of the tournament under difficult weather conditions. It was a well-run tournament with excellent facilities. Now it's off to Bourbonnais, again, for, the USSSA Supper Elite NIT and what we hope is, a repeat performance from earlier this season and a trip to Disney Land. GO LIGHTNING!!
